Health Nuts "Boot Camp Lite"
Saturday, March 20, 2010 9:10:38 AM
Saturday, March 20th marks the date of the very first Health Nuts weekly morning "boot camp lite" at Centennial Park. The initial group was made up of 12 individuals; some walked, some jogged and some ran-- but everyone is able to participate at a level that is right for them. The idea is very simple. We stretch and warm-up from 7:00am to 7:15am. All of us start out together at 7:15 and circle the approximate 2.5 mile lake starting and ending at the lakefront stage. The faster runners, at various points around the lake, circle back. As they pass the joggers, they also, in-turn, circle back and together they loop around the walkers and then continue their journey back to the front. Along the way, we do find short opportunities to add in a few boot camp style exercises and a couple of ranger runs (joggers go at slow pace and in a single file line. The leader calls for the individual in the back to run at fast pace to the front. Once in the front, the new frontrunner again adjusts to a slow pace and the cycle repeats). Individuals participate in the extra activities as they are able and when they want. We all finished at the same time back at the lake front with each individual having had the opportunity to participate in the approximate 45 minutes physical activity within their own ability and comfort level. For those that are able to stay, we do some “extra credit” core work and stretching before parting. We hope that you will join us on Saturday mornings whenever the weather permits.
